NCDs (Non-Communicable Diseases) are one of the major challenges for public health in the 21st century, not only in terms of human suffering but also because of the harm they inflict to the socio-economic development of the nation. 61% of deaths in India are attributed to NCDs, majorly heart disorders, cancer and diabetes. One out of four Indians is at the risk of dying due to NCDs before they reach the age of 70. If timely preventions are not undertaken by 2030 the number of deaths due to NCDs shall increase to 55 million. The major NCDs share common lifestyle related risk factors like physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, tobacco use and harmful use of alcohol.
We at Generation Saviour Association are of the staunch belief that it is our responsibility to work towards saving the present and future generations from NCDs by supporting lifestyle changes in the population through policy initiatives, awareness programmes and combating the industrial interference.
